1. RIVALLON (-[1034] or after, bur [Rennes Saint-Georges]). "…Rivalloni vicarii, Triscanni…" signed the charter dated to [1013/22] under which "Alanus et Egio Britannorum monarchi" founded the priory of Livré "in pago Redonensi"[812]. "Rivellonius proviniciæ Redonensis miles cum Junargande coniuge mea" founded the priory of Marcillé, with the authority of "Alanus comes dominus meus", by charter dated to [1015/32], signed by "…Rivelloni vicarii, Driscamni filii eius, Gaufredi similiter eiusdem filii…"[813]. "Alanus Britannice gentis dux atque princeps" founded the abbey of Saint-Georges de Rennes by charter dated to [1028/30], witnessed by "Eudo meus germanus, Gozolinus vicecomes, Rivallonis vicarious, Alanus Cornugallie comes…"[814]. A charter dated to [1030/45] records the purchase by Marmoutier of land granted by "Rivallon le Vicaire" to "Urvodius", tutor to "son fils Gautier", approved by "Driscan, frère de Gautier et…Robert son fils"[815]. "Rivellonus provinciæ Redonensis miles cum Junargande conjuge mea" donated property "in vico...Marcilliacus" to Marmoutier by undated charter[816]. "Rivalloni, Triscandi filii eius…" signed the charter dated 1034 under which "Alanus…Britannorum dux et frater meus Eudo cum matre Haduissa" donated property to Rennes Saint-Georges[817]. "…Rivallonio Vicedomino…" signed the charter dated to before 1038 under which "Guarinus Redonensis episcopus" donated property to Marmoutier, confirmed by "Alanus comes"[818]. A charter dated to [1045/90] records a donation to Marmoutier by "Rivallon le Vicaire, grand-père de Robert I de Vitré"[819]. Le Baud records Rivallon’s death in 1008 after his wife, this date being inconsistent with the charters quoted above, and his burial “en l’abbaye S. Georges de Rennes nouvellement fondée par le Duc Allain”[820].

"Rivellonius proviniciæ Redonensis miles cum Junargande coniuge mea" founded the priory of Marcillé, with the authority of "Alanus comes dominus meus", by charter dated to [1015/32], signed by "…Rivelloni vicarii, Driscamni filii eius, Gaufredi similiter eiusdem filii…"[821]. Le Baud records that Junargonda predeceased her husband, with whom she was buried[822]. A primary source which confirms this information has not been identified.Rivallon & his wife had [five] children:
1. ROGAND [?-bur Rennes Sainte-Melaine]...
2. TRISCAN [?-(1045), bur Marcillé Saint-Ouen]...
3. GEOFFROY (-after 1015)...
4. GAUTHIER...
5. daughter (-after 1029). Nun at Rennes Saint-Georges.

Riwallon Vitre said the Vicar (~ 980 ~ † 1040), was the first baron of Vitre. He reigned from 1008 to his death. He is the founder of Family Vitre and is the origin of the founding of the Acigne and that of Marcille (?).....

Riwallon said "the Vicar" is a great devotee of Duke Geoffrey I of Brittany. According to the "Chronicle of Vitre" by Pierre Le Baud, during a parliament held in Auray, Riwallon would have killed the lord of anonymous Kemenet-Héboé who had insulted the duke. In order to escape the vengeance of the relatives of his victim he took refuge in Rennes1 where he became so close that he says Geoffroy, 1008, the protection of a small town growing and its surroundings. Riwallon became in acts of Alan III, Duke of Brittany "vicarius" that is to say, the vicar of Vitre and what became the barony of Vitre high 80 parishes with its four castles in Vitre, Chatillon-en -Vendelais, Chevré and Marcille-Robert2. He built the first castle of Vitre (wooden) and that of Marcille-Robert he gave to his son Robert (hence the name of Marcille-Robert).

Riwallon subscribed many ducal charters and seems to be a vassal subject. He seeks the consent of his suzerain when giving church Marcille at the Abbey of Marmoutier and if he built a fortified mound at Vitre near Holy Cross Church he established his residence in Marcille-Robert very ancient settlement that had housed a mint in the Merovingian period 3.

Two years later, he confided to his third son, Renaud, the small lordship of Acigne. Renaud then based in turn Acigne the House and took control of a powerful country who will rule later on the manors of Acigne, Combourg, Malestroit, Châteaugiron and Coëtmen [ref. necessary

He is the son of Martin, son of Berenger Juhel Rennes4 and Gerberge of Nantes, and a Salome [ref. needed].

He married around 1000 with Génergaude, related to the Bishops of Rennes, with whom he has three children 5:

• Tristan Vitre (~ 1015 ~ † 1050) Baron de Vitre, Fougeres married Innoguen
• Gautier Vitre
• O., a nun at the Abbey Saint-Georges de Rennes (?)
• Ymoguen Vitre (~ 1010 † 1056) [ref. necessary]

For its part in the seventeenth century Augustin Du Paz attributed her three son his wife "Lady Génergaude" 6:

• Tristan Baron de Vitre
• Robert Lord of Marcille
• Renaud lord Acigne

Others speak of another son, William, who was abbot of Marmoutier.
