About Roger de Cumbray
Biography
Roger de Combre was given the manor of Nether-Whitley by Ranulf de Blundville, Earl of Chester, about the reign of Richard I (1189-1199). His daughter Alice brought the estate to her marriage to Robert Touchet of Bug-Lawton (original spelling) and to his posterity, the Touchets Barons Audley and the Touchets of Nether-Whitley, where it remained until the death of William Touchet in 1684.
His other daughter, Agnes, married Adam de Dutton, son of Hugh de Dutton, ancestor to the Warburtons of Arley.
