Martha survived Richard. She married Joseph or John Mounger and became involved in several suits with Richard's executors over her share of the estate.
They maintained that she should receive nothing because she had remarried. In one case she was required to pay 50 shillings to Albridgton Jones.23
However, on 16 July 1762, a jury awarded her a child's portion or 1I1lth of the estate.24
This award is puzzling since all known records indicate Richard had only seven children.
Perhaps there were four daughters from his first marriage who had been given dowries by 1757.

Note:
Richard, Since he later sold the land, it appears that Richard inherited at least his father's 1682 grant of 320 acres.
In exchange for transporting four persons, he obtained a second 170 acre grant on the south side of Blackwater Swamp on 26 Apr 1711.
On 26 Oct 1719, Richard Vick, Yeoman, and wife Sarah, of the Lower Parish of Isle of Wight County, sold 100 acres adjoining a piece sold to my brother William Vick by me, to Lewis Bryan, a grandson of Hodges Councill. The land was described as being a part of Richard's patent dated 26 Apr 1711.
Over the next several years, Richard's holdings on the South side of the Nottoway River grew to more than 1,000 acres.
On the 22nd of Feb 1724, he was granted 300 acres on the south side of the river and the North side of Cypress Swamp for twenty-five shillings and the transportation of John Webb.
Three other headrights granted between 1730 and 1731 further increased Richard's holding on Cypress Swamp. He developed these land holdings into large tobacco plantations.
Richard did not limit his land purchases to just Virginia, he also bought land accross the border in Bertie County, North Carolina between 1723 and 1726. These grants added an additional 440 acres.

Notes from Colonial Bertie County, NC (Deed book A-H -1720 to 1757):
Richard Vick of Isle of Wight, TO Thomas Kirby Feb. 1725 - 2000 lbs. of Pork for 290 Acres on Pottekerse Creek adjacent to Thomas Drake. Patent dated 5 Apr 1723.

Land formerly granted Thomas Kirby by Patent to Vick dated 20 Jul 1726.
