Will dated 20 Feb 1594, proved 8 March 1595. Mentions:

Richard Archdale signed the 1633-4 Harleian Visitation ("Ric. ARCHEDALE"), and he is listed as "Richard ARCHEDALE, Merchant of London, living 1634, married "Judeth, da. of Richard THORPE of London by Elizabeth BROOKE."

If he lived in St. Nicholas Olave, presumably he was the Richard Thorpe, vintner at the Sign of the Miter (in London) who Hugh Plat claimed, in a notebook list entitled "Practices" was one of 51 people cured of their illnesses by Plat's proprietry medicines, between 1593 and 1605. (The Jewel house: Elizabethan London and the scientific revolution. By Deborah E. Harkness.). [He evidently didn't cure him for long.]

The Mitre Tavern, Bread Street Hill was an important house, which stood nearly opposite the Church of St Nicholas Olave. (London Topographical Record: Volume 16. 1932.)

From the freedom and apprenticeship register of the Vintners' Company (Guildhall Library Ms 15211/1):

• 3rd July 1560: For presenting Rich[ar]d Thorpe app[rentice] to Arlington Kelly. 12d.
• 8th July 1572: Also for making free of Rich[ar]d Thorpe, app[rentice] to Arlington Kelly. 20d.
