Biography

Richard (John, Henry, Nicholas) son of John and Awdrye (Redding) Page was born at Wembley, Middlesex, England about 1556,; He married Frances Mudge at London on 21 Nov 1594 . Richard died at Sudbury, Middlesex, England on 14 Mar 1639.
“Richard Page removed to Uxenden, in the Parish of Harrow, County Middlesex, England. He was living in1634. His will is dated 15 Aug., 1638, and was proved 6 Dec, 1642. He was married twice, but had no issue by one of his wives, probably the second. Both his wives died ante 1638. By one of-his wives, probably the first, whose name was Frances, he had ten children according to the 1911 text titled "The History and Genealogy of the Page Family from 1257 to the present", by Charles Nash Page. [1] Three of Richard's ten children are listed on pages 67 and 68.
The text suggests, wrongly, that Richard was the father of the John Page that emigrated to America n 1630 and founded the first Page family of America. Two articles written by G. Andrews Moriarty in the The New England Historical and Genealogical Register dispell that notion [2], [3]
The text is also wrong about Frances as first wife. There's a marriage record for Richard Page and Frauncis Mudge, 29 July 1594, St. James Garlickhithe, City of London, London, England: see https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/memories/GNWR-YCG
Richard Page was however the father of Thomas Page whose 2nd son John went to America in 1650 and founded the Page families of Virginia. [4], [5]
Children include
- John Page, eldest son, lived at Middle Temple, London
- Richard Page, m. Elmira Whitecliffe, had 6 children (unsourced)
- Thomas Page, born at Uxenden, co. Middlesex, m. 1622 at Sudbury, co. Middlesex, had 2 children: John and Mary, both bapt. 28 Dec 1628. It was Thomas' son John that emigrated to America in 1650 and founded the Page family of Virginia. [4] (??? - is this accurate?)
THERE IS NO PROOF THAT THIS RICHARD IS THE FATHER OF FRANCIS PAGE.

NOTE: There is no proof that this Richard Page Is the father of Francis Page. The writings of Charles Nash, about 1918 INCORRECTLY attributed the ancestry of all Page lines to Richard page of Harrow, Middlesex and his wife Frances Mudge. Sources for the Page family include: The Page Family in Virginia by Richard Page MD 1965 and Genealogy of the Page Family in Virginia by Richard Channing Moore Page MD 2nd Edition 1983.

- https://www.brent.gov.uk/libraries-arts-and-heritage/brent-museum-a... In 1592 Elizabeth's security services tracked the fugitive Jesuit Robert Southwell to Uxendon. As a result of these arrests the Bellamys suffered considerably in the final years of the 16th century. By 1608 their land was in the hands of the Page family, who had become the leading landowners in the Wembley area.
- https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=338662.0 I wonder whether any list member has knowledge of the PAGE family who owned huge estates in Middlesex around Harrow and Uxendon? I believe there may also have been a Page property in or near Rickmansworth. The death of Henry Page in 1829 was the start of a great deal of litigation and became known as the 'Page millions' case, with several claimants to the fortune, all of whom failed to overturn the probate on Henry Page's will.
