(III) Richard Gildersleeve (3d) was born in 1659 in Hempstead, Long Island. He bought land in Huntington, Suffolk Co., L. I., April 2, 1687 of John Goulding and wife. He was granted by the town 22 acres at Clapboard Hollow, and at Crab Hollow, his assessment 1688 was £37. On January 10, 1694, he and John Scidmore bought of Edward Ketcham 150 acres of upland west side of Nesaguage River. He conveyed a tract of land in Hempstead on April 20, 1699, to Richard Valentine of Hempstead. He sold his proprietor's rights at Hempstead, May 2, 1704, to his brother, Thomas Gildersleeve. He had a son Thomas, born 1690-92.


He died 1717 Northport, Suffolk, New York Colony. [1]
