About Rev. Moses Freeman
Moses Freeman was born in September 1774. He was baptized by William Dodson at Little River Baptist Church, Burke County, NC. In 1812 he and his family moved their membership to Little Ivy Baptist Church, in what is now part of Madison County, NC. In that same year he was a delegate from Little Ivy Baptist Church to the French Broad Baptist Association. He was ordained into the ministry on August 8, 1812 at Little Ivy Baptist Church. In 1818 he was a charter member and the first pastor of the newly formed Bull Creek Baptist Church. He served as this church's pastor until his death in 1859.
Pvt. Moses C. Freeman, was the grandson that preacher, also named Moses. One of the original church structures he preached in is still standing today. The original Bull Creek Baptist Church in the Mars Hill, NC stands as a museum right next to the modern structure.
