About Pte. Frederick Charles Sprott
Frederick Charles Sprott was born at Dunedin in the Otago region of New Zealand's South Island on 9 December 1894. His parents were Robert Sprott and Margaret Agnew Sprott (née Lawrie) who had married in Dunedin on 22 June 1876. During World War I Frederick served with the Otago Infantry Battalion. He was wounded at Gallipoli and evacuated to Egypt. Frederick died of his wounds at the General Hospital in Alexandria on 12 November 1915. 20-year-old Frederick was buried in the Alexandria Chatby Military Cemetery [A. 5.]. Two of his brothers also died during World War I; Percy George Sprott was killed in action at Gallipoli on 9 August 1915 and George Sprott was killed in action in France on 8 October 1918.
