Prince Smbat VII of Armenia

 [ARME211] Smbat VII (son of Ashot the blind) married [MAMI212] Dzoyk/Dzovik (daughter of Governor Samuel II Mamikonian of Taron, see MAMIKONIDS DYNASTY). He was High Constable of Armenia (761-73), and Prince of Armenia (771-72), Lord of Shirak (782-804). He was killed fighting Arab forces at Bagrewand (15th April 775)??

Smbat VII, Sempad of Armenia was ancestor of the Armenian branch of the Bagratid family who were kings from the 9th century on, known in Armenian as Bagratuni. Also called Sempad of Armenia. He was born circa 715. He was the son of Ashot III "the Blind", Prince of Armenia. He married Princess of Taraun, daughter of Samuel II of Taraun, Prince of the Mamikonids.
