Biography

Three of the known children of Oliver and Thomazine Purchase left their native England to make homes in New England: son Thomas in 1630; son Aquila and his family, on the same ship with his sister Joan and her family, in 1633. Aquila died on the ocean or soon after reaching their destination. A fourth known child, a daughter who married George Way, remained in England.

OLIVER1 PURCHASE.

Children of OLIVER PURCHASE are:

1. THOMAS PURCHASE, born Bef. 1610 in Dorchestor, Dorset England; died May 11, 1678 in Lynn, MA.
2. Aquila PURCHASE, died 1633 at sea.
3. PURCHASE. She married George Way.
4. JOAN PURCHASE, born 1578; died Mar 26, 1653 in Dorchester, MA.

Joan Purchase, born about 1578, daughter of Oliver Purchase. The most economical intepretation of this collection of records is that there were four Purchase siblings, children of Oliver Purchase, born over a period from the later 1570s, through the 1580s, and perhaps into the 1590s: Joan Purchase, who married BERNARD CAPEN; THOMAS PURCHASE; AQUILA PURCHASE; and an unnamed daughter who married George Way.

May have emigrated to America with his daughter and died in Dorchester, Mass.
