Nicholas SNOW born 6 Dec 1663 in Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts died Abt 1754 in Rochester, Massachusetts. He was the son of Mark Snow and Jane Prence.
Married to: Lydia SHAW 4 Apr 1689 born 1672 in Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Jonathan Shaw and Phebe Watson.
They had the following children:
- Jonathan SNOW, b: 30 JAN 1691/92, in Eastham, Province of Massachusetts Bay[2]. Married Thankful Freeman.
- Mark SNOW born 30 Apr 1695. Possibly married Sarah Langford.
- Nathaniel SNOW born 16 Oct 1697. Married Elizabeth Eldridge of Harwich.
- Joshua SNOW born 18 Aug 1700. Married Bashua.
- Thankful SNOW born 7 Feb 1700/01. Married Joseph Burgess.
- Sarah SNOW born 20 Mar 1702/03. Married Nathan Hammond.
- Phebe SNOW born 17 Nov 1705. Married Zaccheus Burgess.

Nicholas Snow was named a Freeman on June 3, 1690, in Eastham, Barnstable County, Plymouth Colony (Massachusetts). After January 1692, he and his family moved to Harwich (now Brewster), Barnstable County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, New England. Nicholas' wife, Lydia (Shaw) Snow, died June 14, 1712, in Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. He survived her and made his will on June 25, 1751; it was proven shortly after his death in May 1754, at Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, New England. He had moved there in the 1720s.
So far as is recorded, Nicholas Snow did not remarry. It is impossible that he was married to Lydia (Bangs) Higgins (as is mistakenly reported on many family trees) for: (1) she was 21 years his senior; (2) she was married from 1661 to 1691 and then she died in 1707, whereas Nicholas' wife, Lydia (Shaw) Snow, whom he married in 1689, did not die until June 1712. He did, however, leave Harwich after his wife Lydia's death, around 1719, along with some of his children, including his son, Jonathan Snow. They relocated 54 miles west to Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts Bay Province, New England. Nicholas Snow died in Rochester, Plymouth, Massachusetts Bay, New England, after signing his will in June 1751, in May 1754.
Snow was at first a North Rochester name, and later a name of Mattapoisett also. The Nicholas Snow house near Snow's Pond is one of the oldest of Old Rochester houses.[4]
Will of Nicholas Snow
"The will of Nicholas Snow of Rochester, yeoman, of advanced age," was made 25 June 1751 and proved 17 July 1754 [His estate was taken 29 May 1754]. He mentioned grandson, Joshua Snow (son of Joshua), granddaughter, Phebe Burge (infant daughter of Phebe (Snow) Burge, deceased), eldest son Jonathan Snow, son Nathaniel Snow, the children of son Joshua, deceased (Joshua and Mary Snow), the children of son Prence Snow (Joseph, Mary and Hannah Snow), daughter, Thankful Burge, and daughter, Sarah Hammond. He left one shilling to his son Prence Snow for "his leaving me and his family as he did." Nicholas was called 'Lt.' in an inventory of his estate taken 29 May 1754. "
Death and Burial
Died on 25 Jun 1751 (aged 87), at Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Burial at Center Cemetery, Rochester, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.[5]
