"Moses Ball, of PA (sic: VA) and one [of] the pioneer settlers in Hawkins County" - refers to Hawkins Co., TN. "Moses Jr. moved to Hawkins Co., TN near Browner Mountain, in the Beech Creek area." It is uncertain if this was before or after his marriage to Mary Ann Hardin - married c. 1770. He was one of the pioneer settlers of the Hawkins County area. Mary Ann was the daughter of William and Patty (Green) Hardin.

The name of Moses Ball, Jr. appears in the Fairfax tax records of 1791. This is the last proven record of him until 1797 when he purchased two hundred acres of land near Brown's Mountain on Beech Creek, Hawkins Co., TN from Samuel Curry. The will of Moses Ball was written (or signed) by him on Dec 13, 1831 in Hawkins Co. TN.
