Mary Armistead married first James Burwell; they were the parents of Nathaniel and Lucy (who died shortly after her father). James died in September, 1718 and Mary married second Philip Lightfoot. Mary and Philip were the parents of William, John, Philip, and Armisted. Mary also left a will when she died

Mary outlived ALL her children (so sad).

  • Nathaniel Bacon Burwell died before May 1751;
  • (1)Philip Lightfoot d bef Oct 1747 in Surry Co., only in his 20's & before his father; married Susannah, their son Lewis dead before 1773;
  • (2) William Lightfoot d 10 Jun 1768, at the home he inherited the old Lightfoot property "Teddington", Sandy Point, Charles City Co., Va., he was known as the the King's Counselor, left a large family. Married Mildred Howell.
  • (3) John Lightfoot died at about age 26, bef Nov 1751 St. Andrew's Parish, Brunwick, no children but a wife [Mary Clack] & left his property to his brothers William & ARmistead and the children of his 1/2 brother, Nathaniel Bacon Burwell dec'd
  • (4)Armistead Lightfoot died 1771 at Yorktown, hopelessly in debt. Left an only daughter [by wife Anne Burwell] Mary who married John Tayloe Griffin. They sold the Teddington property.
