Mary, parents unknown, was born around 1683 in Hempstead, New York. She married Thomas Gildersleeve before 1690, and they had at least 9 children.

Disputed origins

George D. A. Combes' "Early Vital Records of Hempstead" (NYG&B, 1923) says no birth surname found for Mary. Herbert Furman Seversmith's "Colonial Families of Long Island, New York and Connecticut" (1939) says the same.
