

Note: A Nathl. JONES is listed on the 1723 Stafford Co, VA 1723 Rent Roll (Census Index Colonial America, 1607-1789). According to a King footnote in OPR: "Charles CALVERT, Gentleman, (circa 1664-1733) moved from MD to Stafford County and married Mary HOWSON, daughter of Robert HOWSON who possessed a handsome landed estate in the Northern Neck of Virginia.
They had two daughters, viz:
(1) Anne wife of Thomas PORTER (16??-1740) and
(2) Sarah HOWSON wife of Nathaniel JONES (1696-1754).

Robert Howson’s daughters were named in the will of Robert Hewitt, 1689, Stafford County:
... “Also it is my will intent & meaninge that if ye said Lande fail to my Daughter SARAH that then MARY HOWSON, ANNE BEHETHLAND & SARAH HOWSON shall have ye next foure tents after MR. SANDERSON everyone haveinge accordingle to their age begininge wth MARY first, ...”
... “and in case of r mortality before my two children then to bee divided amongst ye Daughters of Mr ROBERT HOWSON deced equally”

Mar 30, 1714. Deed between Sarah Howson Calvert, Thomas Porter and Anne his wife (which Sarah, Thomas and Anne are of the County of Stafford) to John Pratt 200 acres in West Moreland County, part of a patent granted to Robert Howson for 450 acres, April 15, 1667. (Ibid, p. 253.)

Witnesseth .. in consideration sun of L 500 Sterling sold all that tract granted unto GERARD FOWKS, WILLIAM HORTON, RICHARD GRANGER & THOMAS GRIGG by Pattent dated 4th September 1661 containing 2050 acres on upper Machotique in County of Stafford then Westmoreland County bounded east with land formerly in possession of GERVISE DODSON deceased, Northerly with the land of Mr. PETER ASHTON, Westerly & Southerly with the main woods Presence Tho Jenkins, Thomas Porter Benjamin Porter, Ann x Porter Joseph Porter Nathaniel Jones Sarah Howsen x Jones Att a Court held for Stafford County 11th October 1721 .. Then came (those who signed) & personally acknowledged this Deed and of Lease/Release and the aforesaid Ann and Sarah Howsen being privately and secretly examined acknowledged the Right of the within Mentioned lands to be the right of the within named John Fitzhugh.
