Tumbardine vs. Tullibardine
Numerous websites identify the location of various Murrays as being "Tumbardine" rather than "Tullibardine." This however seems clearly to be wrong.
First, there is no place named "Tumbardine." Rather, this misspelling seems to be the result of an incorrect transcription of books by OCR software. This can easily be seen by doing a search in Google books for "Tumbardine." That search returns a list of some 18 books. Most of those can be visually inspected online. Without exception, the highlighted words of the search for "Tumbardine" are actually always spelled "Tullibardine" or "Tullibardin."
The Tullibardine Castle no longer exists, although its site can be seen, but a proposed drawing (for a later reconstruction?) of it can be seen at ScotlandsPlaces.go.uk.
