About Margaret Hamilton

Evidence needed to support as daughter of John Hamilton & Janet Young

MARGARET HAMILTON

The Question of Identity

It has been claimed that Margaret Hamilton, here treated, is that daughter of John Hamilton and his wife Janet Young whose baptism was registered on 4 December 1726, at Hamilton in Lanarkshire, Scotland, but evidence which proves that it was this child who married James Smellie at Renfrew on 15 October 1743 is not cited and none has so far been found.
