Discussion

From the death notice of G.J. Kraay (Feb 1857), the birth dates for the children of Gloudina Jacoba Kraay and Lucas Petrus Jacobus Duran/Doraan surviving their mother can be estimated. The list was also compared with the children on the death notice of L.P.J. Doraan (1906):

There is no reference to 3. Johanna Margaretha on her father's death notice. There is however a reference to 3. Johanna Maria Eysele, who does not appear on her mother's death notice. The baptism register entry for Johanna Maria Duraan (10 November 1839 in Clanwilliam) shows Gloudina Jacoba Kraay and Lucas Petrus Jacobus Duraan as her parents, with the birth date close to that estimated for Johanna Margaretha (Sep 1839). She was likely listed incorrectly on her mother's death notice.

There is no reference to 4. Catharina Geesje on her father's death notice. There is however a reference to 4. Catharina Glodina Jacoba van Wyk, who does not appear on her mother's death notice. Based on the birth order, these are likely the same person.

The death notice of Lucas Petrus Jacobus Doraan indicates that Cathatrina Glodina Jacoba Doraan/Duraan married to Van Wyk and Gloudina Jacoba Doraan/Duraan married to Hoffman are two different individuals.

8. Thomas Gert does not appear on his father's death notice in 1906 and likely passed away before then.
