Parents are unknown for certain, although she has been posited as Daughter of Adelramn III, Count of the Vexin and Wife of Adelramn III, Count of the Vexin OR as Daughter of Ermenfroi, count of Amiens and Adelaide Gâtinais de Gastinois

Per Weis' "Ancestral Roots. . ." (250:17): she was dau, or niece of Ermenfroi, Count of Amiens ?, prob. a Carolingian princess), who m. (2) Waleran, a count who has been misidentified as father of WALTER I. The note at the end of line #250 states, "The identification of the parentage of Eldegarde, wife of RAOUL, as dau. or niece of Erminfrid (Erminfroi) rests on WALTER's statement that he was his heir. However, it is equally possible that Erminfrid was RAOUL's brother."
