About Lady Barbara Hastings Parker-Mallowan
Barbara Mallowan (née Parker) was an Asiatic archaeologist and Assyriologist. She was the long-standing mistress of fellow archaeologist Max Mallowan who was married to author Agatha Christie. They married in 1977 after Christie's death. Parker had been his epigraphist at Nimrud, and founding member of the British School of Archaeology in Iraq in 1932. She was elected president of the school in 1983, having previously served as secretary-librarian.
