"In the MSS of George Morris the wife of this John Barker is called Elizabeth Sandford. In the Visitations she is omitted altogether. But it seem more than probable that the two Barkers here named, father and son, were one person.
The will of Edward Burton, printed with this pedigree, and worthy of perusal for it own sake, alludes to five out of the seven daughters given to him in the Visitations. Two of these, Mary and Dorothy, married Bakers; Joan married Thomas Corber; Ellen married Ralph Banaster; Ann married a Bostock, while there is no mention of a daughter Joyce.
Now as Alice Leigh died in 1603 at a very advanced age, she could not be the great-granddaughter of William Barker who died in 1590. If she died at the age of seventy, she must have been born as early as 1533, and it is just possible she might be the grandchild of William Barker, who could not have been born many years before the the 15th century."

Origins

”The will of this Sir Edward Burton of Longnor in 1524 (see below) referred to his wife, Joys; three daughters namely Anne, Jone Corbet and Elyn Banister; and a son and heir, John Burton. The will also noted a Mary Barker and a Dorathe Barker but did not specify their relationship to the Testator. They may also have been daughters, but they may not. ....”
”The Barker Pedigree in Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica[8] suggested that a Joyce Burton, indicated to be a daughter of Edward Burton of Longnor, married John Barker alias Calverahll of Colchurst near Market Drayton. The Pedigree didn't specify which Edward Burton was her father.”
Notes
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Burton-1613 Shows her as daughter of Edward Longnor Burton (1430 - 1478) (parents unknown) sister of Francis & Thomas.

“Locating this text may also prove pivotal: Arthur Leigh Barker, The Barkers of Aston (Plymouth, England: The Mayflower Press, 1932, FHL film 1405167), 21, FHLCatalog. Summarized: "John Barker alias Coverall of Colchurst = Joyce, dau. of Edw. Burton of Longmor, co. Salop. Groom of the Stole to Hen. VII. She probably died before 1524." Note that the death date they propose as probable is disproven. See other notes. [3]”

Another version of the pedigree* actually makes much better sense. Other reviewers have concluded that significant abbreviation or omissions have to have occurred with the "Shropshire 1623 Visitations" version. (Although 1623 does begin with these reference codes: Harl 1396, fo. 19(b). Harl 1241, ff. 12, 93(b). Harl 615, fo. 253(b). and S, ff. 23, 24. Where (b) is a superscript.)
