Josiah Howe Sr. has English ancestors.

Born in Sudbury, Mass., about 1650. He married 18 May 1671, Mary Haynes [1][2][3] of Sudbury, daughter of John Haynes, born about 1647. They lived in Marlborough most of the time, but it is quite probable that they went to some other place of safety during King Philip's war, as they had one child, born in Sudbury in 1678. We have not the date of his death, but the administrator of his estate was appointed 23 June 1710. His widow married second, 15 Nov. 1710. , John Prescott of Lancaster.[4][5]

Dorothy was born about 1676. Married John Prescott, son of her stepfather. She was named in the settlement of her father's estate, and died in Lancaster 28 Sep 1749.[1]
