Biography
Joseph Phinney, son of John Phinney and Mary (Rogers), was born at Barnstable, Massachusetts, January 28, 1667. [1] [2] [3] [4] This is probably 1667/8, because of the proximity of Melatiah's birth Oct 1666.
Joseph married twice. He married, first, at Plymouth Mercy Bryant (aka Maary) on 15 June 1693.[2][5] She died before Sept 1706.[2]
Joseph married, second, also at Plymouth, Esther West on 19 Sept 1706. Esther was the daughter of Peter and Patience (_____) West. Peter named his daughter Esther in his will made in 1717.[2][6]
Joseph died at Plympton 29 June 1726.[4][2][7]
The will of Joseph Phinney of Plympton was made two days earlier, 27 Jun 1726 and presented 15 July 1726. He named his wife Esther, sons John, Joseph and Pelatiah and daughters Alice Hamblin, Mary Hamblin, Mercy Phinney and Patience Phinney.[2]
