Not in Mendon town record
"DAILEY, JOSEPH, and wife Patience, of Colchester, Conn., had a dau'r Frances, an adult, bap. June 28, 1741, and a son John, b. at Colchester, Dec. 11, 1708; Joseph Dailey, resided in Middletown, where he died, and his son Field Dailey, aged 14, chose Joseph Dailey, for his guardian, in 1748-9. "
He was a taxpayer in Providence in 1698.
In 1703 Joseph was given 40 acres by his father. His name ("Joseph Dalee of
Provedens") is on the 1698 list of original proprietors of Colchester, CT.
Scituate Land Records:
20 Feb 1718: "Laid out to Joseph Daly 40 acres in Scituate east of
Punhungaset Pond."
1718 Joseph sold 57+ acres to Peter Ballou with house, orchard, etc.
His apprentice William Dallie filed in court a complaint that Joseph did not provide the clothing and lodging that was promised him. On 11 July 1704, in Providence, Joseph was sentenced to 15 lashes for abuse and contempt of royal authority.
He was living in Colchester by 1708, when the birth of his son John was recorded there on 11 Dec 1708.
But his name continued to appear in Providence records: in 1708 for finding a
horse; he sold land in Providence in 1717, 1718, and 1720/21.
On 22 Dec 1718 he was voted an inhabitant of Colchster.
