Jorund Ulfsson was the father-in-law and grandfather of Erik the Red and Leif the Lucky the famous Icelandic vikings, Erik who led the Norse colonisation of Greenland and Leif who brought Christianity to Greenland and is remembered for "discovering" North America.
Jorund Ulfsson was born in the late 9th century in Reykjanesskagi region of Iceland where his father had settled after leaving Norway. The sagas record that by the time of his daughter's marriage to Erik the Red Jorund's wife was married to another man which indicates Jorund had died prior to this.
