According to Howland's History, this Abigail married Young on 2 9m [November] 1678, a date not found in any records relating to Abigail and one too late to accord with her being called Abigail Young in her mother's will of 1674. Howland's alleged date is the one found in the Friends Records for the marriage of an Abigail Howland to Richard Keerby (see Abigail, widow of No.2, Zoeth Howland). The names of some of the children born to John Young and wife Abigail (e.g., Joseph, Henry, and possibly Robert) are Howland names and re compatible with a presumption that the mother was a daughter of Henry Howland; but if she were, Abigail was married many years earlier. A likely record of the marriage is the previously cited one in 1684. Extensive information is available on the family, both published and unpublished. A quick review of the Youngs in Plymouth Colony, made by the the authors Wakefield and Sherman, suggests that this John is the only Young in the colony likely to be Abigail's husband. Note: This is a decently sourced out report with lots of potential for further study.

  • John G. Hunt wrote in an article published in The American Genealogist, Vol. 42: ORIGIN OF THREE EARLY PLYMOUTH FAMILIES: COLE, COLLIER , AND CLARKE " . . . proved by the will of Zaccheus Cole of St. Olave, Southwark (Surrey England), citizen and grocer of London, dated 16 Nov 1630 . . . In this will the testator named his mother, FRANCES, his brothers Nathaniel, John, and DANIEL COLE, and appointed his brother, Job Cole, executor. In New England the will of John Cole, dated about 1637, refers to his brothers Job Cole and Daniel Cole; to sister Rebecca and to Eliza Collyer and left legacies to each of Master Collier's men." This is the evidence that the mother of Daniel Cole is Frances (unknown) and that his father whose name remains unknown had died prior to the date of the will.
  • It was Monday Dec. 20,1694 when Daniel die. Daniel was 80 years old when he pass away. • (II) Captain Jonathan Bangs, son of Edward and Rebecca Bangs, was born in 1640, at Plymouth, Massachusetts, and died in Brewster, November 9, 1728. He was a man of considerable influence and generally was addressed by his military title, captain. While living in Eastham he was selectman three years, and between 1764 and 1788 served six times as deputy to the Old Colony general court. In 1692 he was representative to the general court at Boston, and for several years was town treasurer of Eastham. It is supposed that Captain Bangs took up his residence in Brewster about 1694, he having inherited lands in that town. He married first, July 16, 1664, Mary Mayo, born at Barnstable in 1649-50, died at Brewster in 1711. She was a daughter of Captain Samuel Mayo, mariner, born about 1625, died about 1663-64, and married Tamosine Lumpkin, born 1626, died 1709. He married second, Sarah __, who died in 1718, and he married third, in 1720, Widow Ruth Young, of Eastham, daughter of Daniel Cole. Captain Bangs had twelve children, all born in Eastham: Captain Edward, September 30, 1665; Rebecca, February 1, 1667: Jonathan, April 30, 1670, died May 11, 1670; Mary, born April 14, 1671; Jonathan, May 4, 1673; Hannah, March 14, 1676; Tamosine, May 5, 1678; Captain Samuel, July 12, 1680; Mercy, January 7, 1682; Elizabeth, May 16, 1685; Sarah, August, 1687; Lydia, October 2, 1689.
