Notes

John Porter, may have been a native of the parish of Little Baddow Co. Essex, England, but who may also have come from some neighboring parish, was probably born shortly before 1560. He was married at Little Baddow 12 Sept 1587 to Sible pr Sybil Vessey, daughter of Thomas Vessey of Little Baddow. She was Baptised at Little Baddow 30 Nov 1561. None of the children of John and Sible Vessey Porter appear to have been baptised at Little Baddow, so the Porters must have left that parish soon after their marriage. Where they lived between 1587-1593 is still unknown, though presumably they did not leave Essex. During that period, apparently, two sons were born to them, Francis and Thomas, of whom the latter was undoubtedly named for his grandfather, Thomas Vessey. By 1593, John and Sible were settled at Felsted, co. Essex. Their daughter Margaret was baptised there 17 May 1593, and their son John on 21 Jun 1594. The Porters probably continued to live at Felsted for the next thirty years. John Porter of Felsted, co. Essex, Yeoman Died between 30 May 1623 , the date of his will and 26 nov 1625 the date of probate. His wife Sybil was executrix of the will so she survived him.
