Stirnet's "Lyon01" page (which is based on The Scots Peerage and A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Peerage and Baronetage (AKA Burke's Peerage), 1934 edition; see link below) and The Peerage's record for this John (which is based on based on The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom, Extant, Extinct or Dormant, new ed. and A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Peerage and Baronetage (AKA Burke's Peerage), 2003 edition; see link below) do not mention this John having any kind of marital or sexual union with anyone other than Jean/Janet Keith (daughter of Robert Keith by Elizabeth Douglas). Furthermore, they do not mention any use of the surname Holmes by this John, or the existence of any issue of this John that had or used that surname.

The Life Summary of Sir John When Sir John Lyon 7th Lord Glamis was born about October 1515, in Forfar, Angus, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, John Lyon, was 24 and his mother, Janet Douglas, was 20. He married Janet Keith on 5 February 1544, in Glamis, Forfarshire, Scotland. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 3 October 1592, in Middlesex, England, United Kingdom, at the age of 77, and was buried in Scotland, United Kingdom.

John Lyon, 7th Lord Glamis is the son of John Lyon, 6th Lord Glamis and Janet Douglas. He married Janet Keith, daughter of Robert Keith, Master of Marischal and Lady Elizabeth Douglas, on 6 February 1542/43.2 He died before 18 September 1559.

    John Lyon, 7th Lord Glamis gained the title of 7th Lord Glamis.1 

He was imprisoned and sentenced to be executed, but was respited until he should attain majority, in the interim, he was orderd to be closely confined and his estates declared forfeited. On the death of King James V, he was released and restored to his estates and honours by Parliament, 15 March 1542/3.
