    Sir John Forbes of Monymusk, 3rd Bt. married, firstly, Hon. Margaret Arbuthnott, daughter of Robert Arbuthnott, 1st Viscount of Arbuthnott and Lady Marjory Carnegie, circa 22 April 1659.1 He married, secondly, Barbara Dalmahoy, daughter of John Dalmahoy, on 21 February 1673.3 He died circa 1713.4

He was the son of Sir William Forbes of Monymusk, 2nd Bt. and Jean Burnett.2 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Forbes, of Monymusk, Aberdeenshire [N.S., 1626] in 1654.1 Children of Sir John Forbes of Monymusk, 3rd Bt. and Hon. Margaret Arbuthnott
