Researcher Note by Jim Baucom :
"I conducted a Y DNA project that proved this John Baucom was not the son of Nicholas Baucom and Mary and born in Baltimore, MD as assumed by author of Baucoms in America.
I have six descendants of John and Rachel with matching Y DNA and three descendants of Nicholas and Sarah Lee, his second wife with matching Y DNA, BUT the two groups do not come close to matching each other.
There is a newspaper article about Josiah Baucom, son of John and Rachel and brother to Cader, being the grandson of James Baucom and Frances Drake that I have attached to my report." ~ Jim Baucom

John Baucom, husband of Rachel, was no kin to Nicholas Baucom and Mary or Nicholas and anybody.
The proof of that can be found at:

Kit 448291 is a descendant of Lewis Baucom. Kit 689501, my brother, is a descendant of Cader Baucom both sons of John and Rachel.
Kit 312982, O’Sullivan was provided by a lady who sent her Baucom uncle’s specimen to FT and Kit 312982 is a Baucom in TX. Both are Nicholas descendants.
They are even in two different Haplogroups. I-M233 and R-M 26
When Banks was writing his book we exchanged snail mail on our Baucom line and talked on the phone. He assumed that Rachel’s John was the John b 1725 Baltimore MD with no proof, the only evidence being adjacent counties. But it turned out to be wrong.
Later a lady in Arkansas sent info about an newspaper article about Josiah Baucom (brother of Cader and Lewis) that stated that Josiah’s father John was the son of James Baucom and Frances Drake who came to NC from England. That is all the documentation we have. The birth dates of James, Frances and John are not known.
I will attach a copy of my Baucom Y DNA project which includes Y DNA results of decendants of John's sons: 2 Cader, Lewis, Asa, and 2 Josiah if you write.
