Note: Joan may well of been a possible legitimate or illegitimate daughter of King Alexander III. I say this because Joan is thought to have been born the same year that Alexander III of Scotland died. I suspect that the Mother may well of been Yolande of Dreux, Queen Consort of Scotland. Other indications that she was a Princess is shown that her name was Joan of Scotland or Joan Douglas of Scotland, having taken the surname of Douglas through marriage. This would make Joan a half sister of Joan the daughter of Yolande of Dreux's second marriage to Arthur II the Duke of Brittany. Yolande is thought to have been born in 1263 and to have died on 2nd August 1322. Therefore, it is my conclusion that Yolande would have been in her early twenties making her at an ideal age for giving birth to children. Yolande's reign or Tenure was from 1285–1286, adding further evidence to this conclusion.
