Jenny Schur

Jenny was the step-daughter of G14 Helene (Segall) Wolpert.

She was the biological daughter of Zvi (Herman/Harry) Wolpert and his first wife Johanna (Stutzan) Wolpert. Jenny lost her mother in childbirth and was married in Johannesburg in 1907 to Joseph (Joe) Schur, who died in 1944. The family ran the popular Victoria Hotel in Muizenberg during WWII. Their son Lionel, and his wife lived and worked in the hotel with his parents. After Joe died in 1944 his son sold the hotel and the family went to live in Plumstead, a suburb of Cape Town, where Jenny died in 1945.

Note: There is an error on Jenny's birth date in the Unbroken Chain, which lists it as 1902. This is not possible for a couple of reasons. The 1st is that her mother Johanna died in childbirth, and her father was re-married to her stepmother, Helene in 1890 (in Memel). Secondly, she could not possibly have been born in 1902 because she was married to Joe Schur in 1907 (in Johannesburg). Based on Jenny's death record, she was born about 1887.
