Biography
He came to Canada to get married, but undoubtedly saw that the weaving industry was blossoming with the invention of the weaving loom that made fabrics and cloth. The materials used were flax, hemp and wool. Sometimes a certain species of nettle made very good cords. Leclerc controlled all the imported wire of France. Jean Leclerc encouraged the development of the science of weaving and made and distributed weaving looms to households. He announced that within 3 years of living in Canada, weavers could make a good profit.
