James Henderson, 3rd of Fordell was the son of William Henderson and Elizabeth Scott.[2] He married Jean Murray, daughter of Sir William Murray, 10th of Tullibardine.[1] He died between 1610 and 1612.[1] In 1565 he was excused by Queen Mary and Lord Darnley from attending their army ‘ost' (assembly of landowners and their followers summoned by the sovereign(s) for military service), because of his minority, and from attending the wars all his life for the good service of his predecessors.[1] In 1566 he was granted the hereditary Provostship of Inverkeithing.[1] Children of James Henderson, 3rd of Fordell and Jean Murray 1.
