About James Elkins

He first married Catherine (unk) before 1777 and had at least two children, Artemancia Elkins, born c.1777, and James Elkins, Jr., born 1785. He then married Mary "Polly" Layne on October 8, 1804 in Patrick County, Virginia. He died before 1821 in Patrick County, Virginia.
A third child, Nancie Elkins, was born in 1783. It is most likely that Catherine was her mother, but some sources list Mary Polly Lane as the mother.
