Isabella Montgomery

ISABELLA MONTGOMERY

According to William Fraser, Isabella Montgomery is the daughter of Sir John Montgomery of Eaglesham: "but it does not appear which of his wives was mother of the third son and the daughters." Memorials, p. 23 Sir James Balfour Paul included her in his account of the Earls of Eglinton but he was not convinced that the relationship suggested for her was correct: "Two other daughters are assigned to Sir John in the Memorials, Joanna, said to have married Sir Thomas Boyd of Kilmarnock, and Isabella, said to be married to Archibald Mure of Rowallan, but the evidenence for their relationship is not wholly convincing."
