Biography Isabel de Vere was born before 1235 in Totnes, Devonshire, England. Isabel, daughter of Hugh de Vere, Knt., Earl of Oxford, by Hawise, daughter of Saher de Quincy, 1st Earl of Winchester, married John de Courtenay, Knt., as his third wife after 6 October 1240. They had one son, Hugh (Knt.). John died 3 May 1273/74 and is buried at Forde Abbey, Devon. Isabel (de Vere) de Courtenay, widow, married (2nd) Sir Oliver de Dinham (or Dynham) before 24 Jan 1276/7. They had two sons, Josce (Knt.) and Geoffrey. Isabel died testate 11 Aug (year uncertain; sometime before 7 Jan 1290/1)... died 11 Aug 1299 or after, bur Exeter Dominican Church. Isabel and her husband Oliver were buried in the Church of the Black Friars, Exeter, Devon.

"d. before 7 Jan 1290/1 [CP IV:323[9] says in error, she was 'living Feb. 1298/9'..." The 7 Jan 129/1 date is "Resolution of dispute dated Morrow of Epiphany, 19 Edw" which states, in part, "Resolution of disagreements between [Sir Hugh de Cortenay], heir and principal executor of testament of Sir John de Cortenay (deceased), plaintiff, and [Sir Oliver de Dynham], executor of the testament of Lady Isabel de Cortenay (deceased), ..."

Wife of John de Courtenay,Son and heir to Sir Robert de Courtenay and Mary de Vernon. They were married about 1248. and had one son; Sir Hugh de Courtenay. Sir John died in 1274.

Secondly, Isabel married, as his second wife, Sir Oliver de Dinham (Dynahm), the son of Sir Geoffrey de Dynham. They were married before 24 Jan 1277, the date of the royal licence and a fine of £100. They had two sons; Sir Josce and Geoffrey.

Isabel's death is uncertain, being on August 11th and before Jan 1291, and is buried with Sir Oliver at Black Friars, Exeter, Devon.
