Death

Agnes Bruce, here treated, identified as the widow of John Scrymgeour of Kirkton, died on 2 July 1590. She made her last will and testament five days earlier, on 28 June 1590, at Kirkton of Mains in the Sheriffdom of Forfar, and it seems quite likely that she died there. [NRS: CC8/8/28]

28 June 1590: The Testament Testamentar and Inventory of Agnes Bruce, the "guid wyff of Kirktoun," who died on 2 July 1590. She made her last will and testament five days earlier, on 28 June 1590, at the Kirkton of Mains in the Sheriffdom of Forfar. She nominated and appointed her eldest son, John Scrymgeour, to be her executor testamentar and the sole intromitter with her moveable estate. She left sixty-six pounds, thirteen shillings, and four pence, to be divided equally between Gilbert Scrymgeour, George Scrymgeour, Margaret Scrymgeour, Issobell Scrymgeour, and Geills Scrymgeour, identified by her as her lawful bairnes. Confirmation was granted to John Scrymgeor on 23 December 1595.
