About Hertz 'Herbert' Bloom
Do not merge with Herbert (MSB) Bloom. Parents disagree.
Probably not the son of Toba Chaye Rosenberg & Jacob (Yaakov Yehuda) Rosenberg, who did not have a son Hertz (Herbert).
Question: Could he be the same as Herbert (MSB) Bloom ? (So far, there is no evidence on Geni tying Herbert Herzl Bloom to the Rosenberg family to which he is currently attached. -LK, 10/22/2021)
Dr. Rudolph E. Drosd was quite clear in his autobiography, 'A Doctor’s Journey' --- Page 40: “Kaunas, known as Knovo, Lithuania, was my mother’s (Lillian Bloom Drosd) birthplace. Her father, Herbert Bloom, had three wives and a family by each. My mother .... was the youngest of his third wife, who died when my mother was born. She was brought up by her two sisters, Mary and Sarah.”
- David Bloom's Death record says he was born in 1879, and his mother was Frieda (birth surname unknown)
- Sarah Bloom's 1904 Marriage Record gives her age as 22 (so born about 1882) -- gives her Mother as Bessie Kaplan
- Lillian Bloom's Nat. Petition has her born Apr. 28, 1892 in Kovna Lithuania., her Soc Sec Application has her born 28 May 1895 -- Birth Place: Kovna, Soviet Union -- and Mother: Rose
- This gives us the three wives, order mandated by order of children's births.
- Mary Bloom either has the same mother as Sarah or as Lillian -- since Rudy said his mother, Lillian, was the youngest of Herbert's third wife - that suggests more than one for that wife - so including Mary there since so far no record giving Mary's mother. Possibly also relevant, Mary named a daughter Rose, perhaps after her mother.
According to the 1932 Affidavit of his son, David Walter Bloom, David's father (so Herbert / Hetzl) told him he came to the US and was naturalized in Boston, Mass., then returned. According to David, "Shortly thereafter when I was 14 years of age, I was sent and landed at Boston, Mass." David also said, "My father died shortly after my leaving Russia."
In his Petition, David also says he arrived at Boston, Mass. about September 1893.

Family stated to be from Stakliskes before moving to Vilijampole. (Caution: There appears to be another Gerts son of Mordkhel, about 10 years older?, who also lived in Stakliskes.)
Possibly the Hertz son of Markel who died in Vilijampole in 1911 at age 87. See attached death record.
Possibly the father of Leizer Mordkhel who died 9 Feb 1887 at age 1 in Vilijamopole, per LitvakSig Death Records.
