About Henry Ferror, of Eawood Manor

From the beginning, the Farrar family name has had many variations: Ferris, Ferrer, Farrer, Ferrier, Farris, Farrar, and Faries. All these families claim to be from the same family, and therefore must be variations of the same name. All are descended from the deFerriers who came to England with William Conqueror in 1066, and then from the Ferris family of Leicestershire, England, descended from Henri deFerriers, son of Gwalchalme deFerriers, who was Master of Horse to the Duke of Normandy. His name is found "upon the Battle Abbey Roll". We do know that there was a Henry Ferriers who came with William the Conqueror to England from a town named Ferriers or Ferrieres in France. His descendants continue to possess the estate of Baddlesley Clinton, Warwickshire, England. The Ferriers were a distinguished family in England and France. The surname is originally Norman and means "one who works in iron", which could have been in any country. http://www.angelfire.com/al2/bcampbell/farrar.html

Ewood Hall, Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire.

The property was formerly owned by the Okes family, but in 1471 Ewood and its lands were conveyed by the owner Edmund Pylkington to Henry Ferror, or Farrer. It was he, with his brothers John and Hugh, who gave two acres of land at Skircoat for the building of Heath Grammar School, and he obtained at his own expense the charter for the foundation of the school. He was murdered at Westminster in 1610. In 1798 Dr John Fawcett and his two sons came to Ewood from Upper Brearley Hall to open their academy for Baptist ministers which continued until 1835. Near the front door is a stone bearing the date 1656 and the initials J.M.L. (presumably John Lockwood.) The building was demolished in the early 1970s. Ewood Hall Barn, the former stables to the Hall, is still standing and has been partly converted to residential use. It is a Grade II Listed Building.

This couple did not have a son Henry, in fact the Family of Sir Henry and Margaret is already up on geni.com /MyHeritage.com

Henry of Eawood Manor was the son of John Ferror and his wife Jeffers (First name unknown) and grandson of Henry Ferror and Agnes (Not to be confused with Ann) Barcroft. Ann Barcroft marrried a great great grandson of the first Henrie.
This claim that Henry of Eawood is a son of Sir Henry Ferrers of Hambleton is a genealogical crime, a flight of fancy on the part of someone who wanted closure or to link themselves ot the Ferrers.
The Farrars of Virginia, descendants of William who arrived in 1618 are descended from the de Ferrrers, but not through the Farrars, through his mother Cecily (Sicily, Sissley) Kelke's line, also through that line to heads of Europe, the Plantagents, etc.
Please do not perpetuate this genealogical crime and disconnect Henry of Ewood from the Ferrers.
The first of the line is found in the poll tax of 1377, living as tenants of Johannes Helistones (John Ellistone) in Morley Wapentake, Halifax Parish, Elland as fferror&uxor (Ferror and wife). http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/Misc/SubsidyRolls/WRY/Halifax....
There is absolutely no evidence that the Farrars are of the Ferrers, not yet. In fact Farrar DNA is Eurasian, possibly Magyar (A hungarian in the entourage of Margaret Aetheling, or a Sarmatian of the Iazgye tribe that served as Roman Axuillaries stationed at York and retired in Ribchester or an Alani, another Sarmatian Tribe that settled in Normandy with permission of the Roman praetor Aetitius
