About Friedrich Radons
- Immigration: Ship Ohio, from Antwerp to Rio de Janeiro - July 24 1890 - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Friedrich Radons is one of the many Germans who lived in Russian Poland for many generations until they went to the New Continent.
Born in Petrikau (nowadays Lodzkie voivodeship) he migrated with his parents and siblings to Volhynia (northwest of Ukraine), where he met Justine Weidmann.
Some alive relatives still remember the family story in witch they knew each other shepherding in a field.
Friedrich had banns anounced with another lady, but he fell in love with Justine and so they ended up getting married a year later.
With two sons the young family went to Brazil (around 1891) accompanied by other family members*, but the youngest (Paul) didn't resist and passed away in the ship.
Once in Brazil they lived a while in Blumenau, Santa Catarina, where Justine found the weather too wet, so they decided to go to Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul.
They have had other nine children, and once more the then youngest son (Henrique) passed away because of a strong flu.
Despite all these losses, their other nine children grew up, got married, had many children and so on...
- It's known that Friedrich's brother Christof and Justine's parents Marianna and Michael Weidmann also went to Brazil.
