About "Evan Thomas of Swansea"
Speculative Origins
Lawrence B. Thomas speculates that Evan Thomas, the supposed father of the Maryland immigrant Philip Thomas, was the son of John Thomas and Gwenllian Herbert. But, Lawrence B. Thomas has no evidence to back up this lineage and is even unable to unearth any direct proof that Evan Thomas even existed. Evan as a name for the father of Philip Thomas comes from a pedigree of the Maryland Thomas family compiled by Philip E. Thomas of Baltimore in the early 1800s.
