About Ethel Fishoff

Born to Annie Ginsburg Eisenberg and Harris Eisenberg. Adopted by Annie's sister, Kate Ginsburg Lubell and husband, Julius Lubell.

Rosenstein says she was born March 3, 1901. Her gravestone says March 4, 1899. The US Census and New York City records say an Esther was born to Harris and Annie Eisenberg in Feb 5, 1898. Only an Esther appears in the 1900 Census in the Harris Eisenberg household.

Her grandmother Ethel Ginsberg had a lot of female descendants in this branch of the family named after her, clearly Ethel is named for her mother's mother who died in 1894. (EMG might have died in January 1889 shortly after coming to America. Grave in Mt Hebron. - Julia Smull Lennen)

She appears to have been adopted by the Lubell family since she appears in the 1920 Census as an "adopted daughter" of Julius Lubell. Her father died shortly after she was born and her mother died when she was 15 years old. However Ethel already appears with the Lubell's in 1905 New York State census when she was 6. Why? What happened to her brothers?
