About Emma de Mobberley

Emma (living 1366), daughter and coheir of William de Modburlegh

{Robert le Grosvenor} married ____, one of the seven daughters of William de Mobberley, of Mobberly in Cheshire, Esq. by his second wife, Maud, daughter and heir of Robert Downes, of Chorley, juxta Werford.

Robert le Grosvenor, of Rudheath, afterwards of Hulme, did homage in 1328. He died before 1342, and was buried at Great Budworth. Sometime before 1323, he married Emma, daughter and coheir of William de Modburlegh, by his wife Maud, daughter and heir of Roberts Downes. She was living as late as 1366, and brought to her husband lands in Chorlegh and Weford. They had two sons, Ralph and Robert.

~The Bulkeley Genealogy, p. 7

Robert le Grosvenor of Holme, son and heir, was under age 21 Edw. I in which year the abbot defended his right to the wardship of the said Robert, against Richard de Lostock, who claimed the same in consenquence of the lands in Allostock, having be granded to the Grosvenors by Gralam de Lostock. In 34 Edw. I, Robert occurs with his first wife Margery, who appears to have been a Vernon of Shipbrooke. His second wife was Emma, daughter of William de Mobberly, coheiress to her mother, Maud, daughter and heiress of Robert Downes of Chorley.
