Elsie Elizabeth Emerson Jobe, 96, formerly of Brucetown, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at a local care facility.
Mrs. Jobe was born Aug. 12, 1905, in Page County, and was a daughter of the late Thomas Calvin and Lucy Deavers Emerson.
She retired from the Clearbrook Woolen Mill, where she worked in the finishing department. She was a member of Brucetown United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She attended Rockingham County schools.
On Aug. 9, 1929, she married Frederick William Jobe, who preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1987.
Surviving are five daughters, Anna Belle Collins and Constance M. Oates, both of Winchester, Juanita "Oneta" Reid of Brucetown, Peggy L. Marcus of Stephenson, and Mary G. Shenk of Cross Junction; five sons, Donald W. Jobe, Richard D. Jobe and Rodger E. Jobe, all of Clearbrook, Allen B. Jobe, Winchester, and Frederick G. Jobe, Brucetown; a sister, Viola Martz, Harrisonburg; a brother, Wesley Emerson, Silver Spring, Md.; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The Revs. Mary Lock and Frankie Perdue will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Burial will be at Brucetown United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
