Elizabeth Popham was born on 22 May 1693.2 She was the daughter of Alexander Popham and Lady Anne Montagu.3 She was baptised in June 1693 at St. James, Westminster, London, England.2 She married, firstly, Edward Richard Montagu, Viscount Hinchinbroke, son of Edward Montagu, 3rd Earl of Sandwich and Lady Elizabeth Wilmot, on 12 April 1707.3 She married, secondly, Francis Seymour, son of Sir Edward Seymour, 5th Bt. and Laetitia Popham, on 30 July 1728.3 She died on 20 March 1761 at age 67.3
From 12 April 1707, her married name became Montagu. From 30 July 1728, her married name became Seymour.

Alexander Popham (died 1705)

Alexander Popham (c. 1670 – 16 June 1705), of Littlecote House, Littlecote, Wiltshire, and St. James's Square, London, was an English politician.

He was the only son of Sir Francis Popham of Littlecote Park.

Popham was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Chippenham in 1690–1698 and for Bath from 1698 until his death on 16 June 1705.[1]

He married Anne Montagu, daughter of Ralph Montagu, 1st Duke of Montagu. Their daughter, Elizabeth (died 20 March 1761), married firstly Edward Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke, and secondly Francis Seymour, of Sherborne, Dorset.

Edward Richard Montagu, Viscount Hinchingbrooke (7 July 1692 – 3 October 1722) was a British Army officer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1713 to 1722.

Hinchingbrooke was the eldest son of Edward Montagu, 3rd Earl of Sandwich and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of the Earl of Rochester. His mother kept his father, who was generally believed to be insane, much confined, leaving Hinchingbrooke to carry out the public business of his family.

On 12 April 1707, at the age of 14, Hinchingbrooke married Elizabeth Popham (died 20 March 1761), the daughter of Alexander Popham of Littlecote, Wiltshire (a grandson of Colonel Alexander Popham).

However, he died in October 1722, predeceasing his father. He left five children:

Francis Seymour, of Sherborne, Dorset

Francis Seymour (1697 – 23 December 1761), of Sherborne House, Dorset, was a British landowner and Tory politician, who sat in the House of Commons from 1732 to 1741.

Seymour was the second son of Sir Edward Seymour, 5th Baronet and his wife Letitia Popham. In 1728, he succeeded to the estates of his paternal great-uncle Henry Seymour Portman MP, which included Sherborne House. He married on 30 July 1728 his cousin Elizabeth Popham, Dowager Lady Hinchingbrooke (died 20 March 1761), daughter of Alexander Popham, of Littlecote, Wiltshire, MP, and great-granddaughter of Colonel Alexander Popham.[1]

Seymour was returned as Tory Member of Parliament for Great Bedwyn at a by-election on 29 April 1732. At the 1734 British general election he was elected in a contest as MP for Marlborough on the Bruce interest. He did not stand again in 1741. On all recorded occasions, he voted against the Administration of Walpole.[1]

Seymour died on 23 December 1761, leaving two children:[citation needed]
