Family history says John m. 10 Jun 1757 Elisabeth Jenifer; one family history says her first husband was David Stone. David Stone was m. to Elizabeth Jenifer, d/o Dr. Daniel Jenifer, from ca 1739 to his death in 1773 according to Harry Wright Newman in The Stones of Poynton Manor.
Estate records prove John Maddox's wife's name was Elizabeth, but nothing was found to verify her
maiden name.

For the love I have for my daughter- in-law, Sarah Hatch Maddox, and for divers other good causes, I have given sd Sarah, 1 young horse, 1 bed and furniture. 1 young heifer, all to be delivered to her when she arrives to age 16 or the day of marriage.
