Elinor Groves

Elinor, daughter of William Cooke, married twice.

She was not the daughter of Mary Lacy Cooke & William ‘the Immigrant’ Cooke, Sr. - they had no child named Elinor.

She married Thomas Carter, born 1625 in England, and died 1669 in Isle of Wight Co., VA.[1] "Inventory of the estate of my deceased husband, Thomas Carter. Signed Elinor Groves. R. Sept. 9, 1673." [4]

Their son was Thomas, ancestor of President Jimmy Carter.

She married, before 9 Sep 1673, to William Groves. Appraisal of William Groves' estate was presented by "Mrs. Elinor Groves" on "21st of 9 mo. 1677" (21 Nov 1677) and was recorded on 9 Feb 1678[/9?].[4]
