Notes for ELEANOR HUNT:

Eleanor was only 16 years old when her child Vincent Runyan III was born. After the death of Vincent Runyan II, Eleanor married Philip Edington and lived on the land inherited by her son Vincent Runyan III, until 1800 when the property was sold to John Drake. Vincent Runyan III and the Edington family then moved to Washington, Cayuga County, NY which is in the Finger Lake Region of New York. In 1804 Seneca County was formed from Cayuga County, and in 1808 Washington was officially renamed Fayette.

V. - Elizabeth Runyan 26 Jun 1764. She married by about 1790 Vincent Runyan. A letter dated 11 February 1938 from a Mrs. R. C. (Mabel) Runyan Beebe, 327 North Keyston Avenue, Sayre, Pennsylvania, in the files of the Hunterdon County Historical Society, claimed that a Vinson / Vincent Runyan, Jr. married Eleanor Runyan Edington Williams, who married (2) Eleanor Runyan Edington Williams, and that a son of Vinson and Eleanor, born about 1767m, died in New York state, having married Elizabeth Wolverton. Children: Philip Edington, Aaron, Isaac W., David, Eleanor. He then married (2) Louisa Chapman Edington.

Hon. Philip Edington Runyan (1799-1845), son of Vincent and Elizabeth Wolverton, removed to White Pigeon, Michigan, and was a representation in the Michigan legislature in 1834.

Mrs. Beebe's letter also says that Vincent Runyan, the father, was the son of an earlier Vinson or Vincent Runyan or Runion, 1700?-1771, who married Mercy Smith. If she is correct, he would be the Vinson Runyan of Hopewell Township, Hunterdon county who in his will dated 27 Oct 1770 and probated 25 November 1771 mentioned wife mercy, grandson Vinson and executors his wife Mercy and Timothy Smith. Roger Wolverton Elizabeth's grandfather, had witnessed the will of Thomas Runyan of Hopewell Township Hunterdon county, dated 30 October 1738, which mentioned sons Vincent and Thomas.

On 22 April 1800 Vincent Runyan of Hopewell Township Hunterdon county,and Elizabeth his wife conveyed an eleven acre woodlot in Hopewell township to Asa Hart. Both signed their names. On 1 May 1800 Vincent Runyan of Hopewell township Hunterdon county, and Elizabeth, his wife conveyed a number of lots of land to John Drake

They left New Jersey shortly after the sale for in 1801 Philip Eddington and Vincent Runnion were listed consecutively as electors of Washington township Cayuga county New York. Vincent Runyan and Philip Edington were among the early settlers of the town of Lafayette, Seneca county New York. A special town meeting was held at the house of Vincent Runyan on 7 July 1804. By deed dated 7 May 1828 Vincent Runyan donated land for the Burgh cemetery to the Town of Lafayette
