'WILL OF EDWARD BALDWIN OF RUFFORD, BLACKSMITH, 25th January 1672' In the name of God amen the twentie fift day of Januari Annoquedon 1672:
'I Edward Baldwin of Rufforth in the County of Lancaster', Blackesmyth, beinge sicke in Bodie, but of good and perfect mynde all Laude and praise bee given to allmightie God for the same, and Caleinge to rememberance the unce..... estate of this Life, and that all flesh must yeald unto death, when it shall please God to Calle, do herein Constitute, ordaine and declare, this my last will and testament, in manner and forme followinge
And anullinge by these presents, all and every testament and testaments, will and wills having been made and declared either by word or by writinge, and this is only taken to bee for my last will and testament and none other, And first beeinge penitent and sorry from the Bottom of my hart for my sinnes Humbly desiringe forgiveness for the same, I give and Commit my soule unto Almighty God the Redeemer, in whom and by the merits of Jesus Christ, I trust and belieeve assuredly and the full remission and forgiveness of all my sinnes, and my soule with my Bodie and the Genera.....to rise againe with Joy, and throug the merits of Christ death and passion, to possess and Inherit the kingdom of heaven, prepared and for his elect and Chosen; And my Bodie to bee Buried in the Chappel Yard .....In the parish of Croston att the discreation of my Executors;
And now for the setlinge of my worldy goods .....and Cattells I doe dispose of, as followeth; viz first my will and my mynd is that my debts and financall .....bee paid out of the whole; Itm it is my mynd and will that 'my sonne Thomas' shall have one Gre.....fire house and dishbord, Immediattly after my dessease and one Chimlie in the fire house att after m.....decease; Itm it is my will and mynd that 'my wife Ellin Bauldwin' shall have the new .....dureinge hir life if the Lease last soe longe and att after hir desease to 'my sonnes Henry .....Bauldwin' equall betwixt them if they Boath bee then liveinge or the survivor of them and .....
to have it all, hee shall pay to 'my sonne Daniel' seven pounds, within thre.....to have and enioy the one Moyetie of the smithie and all the appurtenances thereof; Itm .....'Scislie one heffer; Itm I give to my daughter Elizabeth one other Heffer; Itm I give to m.....Banke one great Brass pann onely my wife Ellen Bauldwin to have the use of it dureinge hir life,.....to my wife Ellen Bauldwin one third parte of all my goods Chattells and Cattells except before disp.....'
Itm I give to 'my Daughter Sislie Bauldwin & my Daughter Elizabeth Bauldwin' either of them some .....out of the other twoo parts; Itm I give to 'my sonn in Lawe Richard Banke' three pounds; Itm I in the ye.....of all my Good Chattells and Cattells to' my wife Ellen Bauldwin my sonnes Thomas Bauldwin Henry B.....and Daniel Bauldwin and Richard Banke, & to my Daughters Sislie Bauldwin & Elizabeth Ba.....amongst them every one alike;'
Itm I give to 'my wife Ellin Bauldwin' all that that houseing .....in Rufforth and Croston Dureinge the life of 'my father in law Daniell Alty of Rufforth' .....desease to bee equally divided betwixt 'my wife Ellin Bauldwin and my sonne Thomas B....'.have in my own possession and and that is now in the possession of 'my father in law Daniell .....'hould all the said mesuage and tenement equally betwixt them both that is in Rufforth & like.....and att after my wifes desease I give all the said mesuage and tenement to 'my sonne Thoma.....'Administrators and assignes payinge all that money that I am Charged to pay in the assignement made to me' .....in law Daniell Altie 'Witnesse thereunto 'James BartonWhereas Edward Bauldwin in his Lifetyme did declare that .....to his sonne in law Richard Banke' that hee would give .....that where worth so much; hee said that hee had lett him .....value of seven pounds and for the makeinge up of the ten.....three pounds menconed in the will above said Witnesse hereof James Barton
